Our Learners

We’ve helped thousands of learners of all ages and abilities to achieve their AAT accountancy qualifications and progress in their careers through our on campus and online accounting courses. Here are some of their stories:

Anna

I was a teacher for 25 years before becoming a full-time carer unexpectedly. Then, I started the L2 AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting, for a new challenge to keep my brain active!

I enjoyed being part of a vibrant learning community and everyone I met while studying embodied this. There’s a palpable sense of being able to achieve and to become whatever you want to be.

After completing Level 3, I considered starting Level 4 but my lecturers advised me that I would benefit more from working in an accounting environment alongside study. I arranged work experience at a local accountancy practice and enjoyed it immensely, and was delighted when I was offered a job as a trainee accounting technician.

Once I’ve completed my Level 4 course I will be qualified to become a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (MAAT).

Irina

I wanted to become an accountant to find more opportunities for a new career, so finding the right place to study was important for me.

My tutors were very supportive because it was a very different course and industry compared to my previous education and job roles. I would recommend this course if you want to start something new in your life as it is a great opportunity to combine working with studying and childcare and achieve a higher-level qualification.

Ella

I was already working in a different role when a colleague suggested I do an apprenticeship in accountancy, as they thought I would excel at it. I decided to do it and really enjoyed studying something new; I was studying with people who were the same level as me, so didn’t feel out of my depth.

Earning money for myself as well as studying gave me a lot of independence and I found I was actually really good with numbers. Starting from a Level 2 qualification and going on to a Level 4 meant I built lots of good core skills and business etiquette which I wouldn’t have known before. I am now a fully qualified, Senior Accountant.

Cerri

I’m a practical learner so an apprenticeship was the right choice for me. I was able to apply skills I learnt right away and understand how they work on a day-to-day basis in my role.

I could email my lecturer at any time if I need help or guidance and the one day a week I came into college was very focused and tailored around what I’m doing in my job at the time.

My dream career is to be a Chartered Accountant and an AAT qualification provides a good stepping stone for this, I would definitely struggle to get the job without it. I’ve grown in confidence and that is emulated in the work I do at Haygrove.
